The Protector, also known as the Seal Section, is the critical protective device connected between the submersible pump and the motor. Its primary mission is to provide absolute isolation between the clean, dielectric oil inside the motor and the harsh fluids of the wellbore, preventing any contamination that would lead to motor failure.

To achieve this, the HESFLO Protector performs three vital functions:

  1. Pressure Equalization: Utilizing either a Bag Chamber or a Labyrinth Chamber design, it effectively balances the internal motor oil pressure changes caused by thermal expansion during operation, preventing fluid exchange.
  2. Thrust Absorption: Its integrated, high-capacity thrust bearing absorbs the significant axial forces generated by the pump, thereby protecting the motor’s own bearings from damage. Both Standard and High-Load bearing options are available.
  3. Dynamic Sealing: It provides a robust dynamic seal for the rotating drive shaft that runs through it.

By reliably performing these functions, the HESFLO Protector is the fundamental guarantee for the long-term, stable operation of the entire ESP system.
